Terra Nova, Eriksberg, Göteborg

Wall panels in four entrances
commissioned by PEAB 2008

Starting point for this work is the the broken 18th century chinaware from the East India Company ship Götheborg that is part of the mosaic. I have added auspicious symbols, common in Chinese art and craft, in my own free interretation:
the lotus fruit, the cloud and the chrysanthemun flower. Also the colors are connected to Chinese architecture, art and gardens.

Inspiration to the format comes from traditional scroll paintings.
